Water then passes through the inner core of activated charcoal, which removes chlorine, ammonia, fluoride, and unpleasant tastes and odors. Activated carbon attracts and traps contaminants due to its porous structure and large surface area, allowing it to efficiently adsorb harmful chemicals.
